    Golf Lessons for Beginners from Expert Instructors

     

    At Nemacolin, we are fortunate to have some of the best golf instructors in the country. Whether you are looking for beginner golf lessons or fine-tuning your skills, or if you’re ready to take your golf game to the next level, this is the perfect place to do so. One of the resort’s expert instructors, Mike LaBella, has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Best Young Teachers in America. To be considered for this prestigious accolade, an instructor must have five years of experience as a full-time teacher, show a knack for making golfers better, and be younger than 40.

     

    Mike has a reputation for training students who have risen to be highly ranked in the Golfweek Junior Rankings, Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings, and AJGA Polo Rankings. He specializes in high-performance development of adults and junior golfers that is tailored to every golfer’s individual needs.He says, “Whether they’re playing for fun or competition, I’m always trying to find out their goals first — and their physical abilities. Once I start seeing how they can move, I can really start to develop a plan for that person. I feel that helps me communicate a lot better rather than just going straight into it and then having to backtrack. Understanding their goals and how they move correlates to everything they do with the swing.”

    Adult Golf Lessons

    Learn the basics, and hone your golf skills at The Nemacolin Golf Academy. Swing, confidence, and shot consistency will see improvement through our customized classes. 

    Individual and Group Golf Lessons

    Take individual golf lessons, or learn golf with friends and family when you enroll in one of our group lessons. Individual lessons with Mike are $225 per hour or $175 per hour with a lead instructor. Group classes, which are usually 2-4 participants, cost $135 per person, per hour with Mike or $105 per person, per hour with a lead instructor. 

    Performance Plans

    Nemacolin offers weekly, bi-weekly, and unlimited performance plans to sharpen your golf game. The plans work as special golf packages that provide premium-level training with a focus set on premium progression over time. Athletes will be given a full assessment to diagnose areas of improvement and structure a detailed program that is catered to their individual needs. Working closely with expert instructors, you can discuss your goals and develop practice routines that keep you on target to train for success.

    Performance plans come with an initial, 90-minute goal overview and assessment followed by a routine three-month review. You will gain access to the CoachNow training space, an all-in-one digital platform that allows coaches to collaborate with students off the field. Additionally, you will receive access to a customized exercise program via the MY TPI Golf Fitness Training app. Your performance plan will also come with a one-year subscription to CoachNow to access personalized coaching, and a one-year subscription to MYTPI APP to explore fitness correctional exercises.

    Golf Bootcamps 

    Guests and members of Nemacolin can get into the swing of things when they sign up for one of the special bootcamps. These bootcamps are run as intensives to help you improve your game quickly.

    New Golfer Bootcamp

    Beginner golfers will appreciate the opportunity to learn the basics in a three-hour bootcamp with one or two other students. This golf bootcamp will give you the fundamentals of full swing, chipping, and putting. You will also gain an understanding of some basic golf knowledge, rules, and etiquette.

    This bootcamp is available from April through the end of October, and runs every other Saturday and each Sunday, excluding holiday weekends from 9am-12pm. That leaves plenty of time after class to explore the many exciting experiences Nemacolin has to offer.

    New golfer bootcamps cost $315 per person in a group or $375 privately. Tax and gratuity are not included. There’s no need to bring anything either — we will supply the equipment. 

    Intermediate Golfer Bootcamps

    With a total of two to three participants, this three-hour program is designed for current golfers seeking to increase their golf performance and gain an understanding of their current ball flight. Further develop your fundamentals on full swing, chipping/pitching, and putting.

    Offered weekly on Sundays 1pm-4pm from April through the end of October, enroll in the intermediate golfer bootcamp for $315 per person in a group or $375 per person privately. Tax and gratuity are not included. 

    Golf Schools

    For those visiting Nemacolin for a short period, take advantage of our golf schools to hone your craft. We offer a three-day intensive program as well as half-day schools for adults. Guests under 16 will require an adult chaperone.

    The three-day intensive program is $2,663 per person (group), plus tax & gratuity, and is inclusive of resort accommodations, making it the perfect choice for those looking for a golf getaway. 

    Three-day intensives will be run over the following dates in 2023:

    • May 16-18
    • June 13-15
    • July 11-13
    • August 14-16
    • September 12-14
    • October 17-19

     

    Get a taste of each area of the game when you enroll in a half-day golf school. This school focuses on teaching you ball flight correction and helps you develop a proper practice routine to transfer what you learn to the course. The half-day schools are $625 per person in a group or $1,040 per person privately. Tax, gratuity, and resort accommodations are not included.

    The five-hour program will be run on the following dates in 2023:

    Nemacolin’s Golf Courses

    From sunrise to sunset, experience the real-life magic of Nemacolin on fun and challenging golf courses designed by Pete Dye. Set your adventure into full swing when you explore Mystic Rock and Shepherd’s Rock, open to adults, and children who are accompanied by a guardian.

    Mystic Rock

    Bring your golf dreams to life at Mystic Rock, a unique golf course designed by Pete Dye under the vision of Nemacolin’s founder, Joseph Hardy. Perched atop the Pennsylvania Allegheny Mountains, Mystic Rock is one of the premier mountain courses in the country spanning acres of the scenic Laurel Highlands.

    Players are offered championship-level golf in a spectacular setting. Be challenged by the lush green slopes — a par-72 course layout with a rating of 77 and a slope of 149 from the tee, one of the highest ratings in the country. Weather permitting, Mystic Rock is open all year round so there’s plenty of opportunity to explore this course.

    Mystic Rock has received a myriad of accolades over the years including Golfweek 2022’s first choice for the “Best Courses You Can Play: Pennsylvania.” Immerse yourself in the magic of Nemacolin by spending a day or two on the course before treating yourself to dinner and drinks at one of our many divine restaurants.     Shepherd’s Rock

    Rise to the challenge at Shepherd’s Rock golf course. Shepherd’s Rock is Nemacolin’s second Pete Dye-designed course, stretching across 7,290 yards of the glorious Pennsylvania Allegheny Mountains. 

    Both fun and challenging, golfers of every skill level will enjoy how Shepherd’s Rock tests their shotmaking with thrilling elevations and unforgettable, natural beauty. It is the ideal companion to Nemacolin’s PGA Tour-tested Mystic Rock and is available to overnight guests and all-access members.

    Shepherd’s Rock will reopen in April 2023, and continue through the fall and winter, weather permitting. Make a reservation 24 hours in advance, pack your casual golf attire, and enjoy your time golfing with friends and family!

    Learn Golf with Nemacolin

    If you plan to include golf lessons in your stay at Nemacolin, please make a reservation in advance. Registration and cancellations for the following programs close one week before the first session. Once registered, the cancellation policy is one week prior to the first scheduled class date. A late cancellation will result in a $250 processing fee which can be used as a credit toward three-day golf schools, half-day golf schools, and high-performance junior golf camps.
